All About Doctoring with Dr. Jennifer Kostacos

There are so many career opportunities within the field of medicine. Besides choosing different paths such as primary care, surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry, you have lots of options within each field. Dr. Jen shared her experience with being a hospitalist, taking care of patients admitted to the hospital, being medical director at a free clinic, and doing house calls for 6 years. She shared her experience with deciding to open her own primary care practice with a focus on women's health and what it's like to be a business owner.  

For our activity, Dr. Jen brought in items used for physical exam. We checked our blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen content in the blood. We experimented with the tuning forks, which make a vibration noise and sensation and can be used to investigate causes of hearing loss, among other things. And we used a small hammer to elicit our reflexes.
